Which Breed Are You?

If you were a linedog or a cannoncocker or a tanker or a jarhead or a SEAL or a clerk or a mechanic or even especially if you were one of those swabby jocks who spent his first four years cleaning officers toilets on an aircraft carrier, then you know how much it can suck. This website is for you.

Because someone has commissioned him to write a screenplay and he won't be able to pay as much attention to his blog as he'd like over the next month, Jeff Goldstein has put out a call for people to help out as guest bloggers over at Protein Wisdom.  Some good submissions there in the comments.  Here's my own humble offering:

First in a series of conceptual conversations between Michael Caine and the DVD dust jacket for "Jaws:  The Revenge" I found in the $1.00 bin at Blockbuster Video

Michael Caine:  "Well.  Hallo there.  I must say, it's been quite some time since I've seen you."

Jaws:  The Revenge:

Michael Caine:  "And how've you been, old man?"

Jaws:  The Revenge:

Michael Caine:  ...

Jaws:  The Revenge:

Michael Caine:  "You know, seeing you reminds me of the good old days."

Jaws:  The Revenge:

Michael Caine:  "I think films made today just pale in comparison against the cinema classics.  They're all just so lacking in dialogue, character and plot."

Jaws:  The Revenge:

Michael Caine:  "Do you know, I've lost count of the number of times I've seen films such as 'Casablanca', 'On the Waterfront' and 'The Third Man.'"

Jaws:  The Revenge:

Michael Caine:  "Yes.  'The Third Man.'  Never tire of watching that.

Jaws:  The Revenge:

Michael Caine:  "And take 'Casablanca.'  Now that movie has so many memorable lines that audiences can quote.  Like when Rick recalls the day the Germans walked into Paris:  "I remember every detail.  The Germans wore grey, you wore blue." Now that's writing."

Jaws:  The Revenge:

Michael Caine: "Which is more than can be said for today's banal films.  I can't think of one I could see again."
